Pharrell Williams and LEGO created something special with their set “LEGO 10391 Over the Moon with Pharrell Williams.” Childhood nostalgia, fun, and storytelling interlace in a set inspired by Pharrell’s dreams when growing up and his upcoming movie Piece by Piece.
The project is close to Pharrell’s heart, as he said in a recent interview. “As a kid, my world was just 20 miles around me. But when I looked at the sky, I could fly. Jets and space shuttles were my way of dreaming beyond,” he says. The sense of wonder and imagination he describes is captured exquisitely in the Over the Moon set.
To bring this into reality, LEGO designer George Gilliatt was in close collaboration with Pharrell. Together, they went through an amount of fun but not without challenges-for example, trying to model the golden windscreen and getting the angle just right for the jet stream. The result is that their combined creativity has paid off with a set capturing an adventurous spirit they were gunning for.
One of the highlights of the set has to be the abacus, made with LEGO minifigure heads. For Pharrell, this is not some random addition but a signal of equality and creativity. He says, “The abacus is about everyone coming together. When you pick up those LEGO bricks, they invite you to build something—anything.
But, in all, the Over the Moon set isn’t just something to build – it’s a story, and everyone is invited. It will be US $109.99, UK £94.99 and Europe €109.99 when it launches officially on September 20, 2024, but pre-orders are available now.
Whether one is a LEGO fan or an admirer of Pharrell’s innovative work, it is definitely a must-have set. A dream big, create bigger kind of philosophy goes just right with this set, adding to the collections.
