After much fanfare, LEGO has finally unveiled one of the most highly-awaited LEGO Star Wars sets of the year: LEGO Star Wars 75397 Jabba’s Sail Barge. It is the third and final 18+ D2C model to be launched in 2024. The set will launch on October 3, 2024, with a price of $499.99 / €549.99 / £429.99. It contains 3942 pieces with 11 minifigures.
That is because Jabba’s Sail Barge would retail at such a high price for the 11 minifigures alone. Indeed, LEGO has re-released these characters for the very first time since the 2013 version, Sail Barge (75020). The 2024 version will include Jabba the Hutt, Bib Fortuna, Princess Leia, Kithaba, Vizam, Woof, Max Reebo and several more.
Based on Return of the Jedi, this model marks its first appearance in LEGO form in over a decade. Also included is a black UCS stand with a printed plaque. The length was rumoured to be 60 cm, based on early leaks, but an official measurement puts it at 77 cm.
It features compartments to open it up for more interactivity and display and play. The orange fabric sails add a nice high-quality feel to the set. The large brick elements on the side walls and sails somewhat justify the higher price.
Inside, the sail barge features five rooms: Max Rebo’s room, Jabba’s quarters, a kitchen, a guard room, and a small space for Kithaba.
